Grading
Your grade in this course will be based on your score on pencil and paper
assignments, online homework assignments, online quizzes, exams, and the final exam
with the following weights assigned:
Online Homework Assignments 10%
Online Quizzes 10%
Pencil and Paper Assignments 5%
Exams 50%
Final Exam 25%
You must earn at least 65% on the final exam to receive a passing grade in this course. If
you do your grade will be calculated using the following fixed scale:
90%-100% A, 80%-89% B, 70%-79% C,
55%-69% D, 0%-54% F.
Exams
The CRC Mathematics Department requires that all online students take exams in
person with a photo ID. There will be five one-hour exams and a two-hour
comprehensive final exam. The dates for these exams are listed below and on the course
schedule.
The first exam will be taken online and can be taken as many times as you want.
However, you must score at least 80% on the first exam.
The other four exams will be held
on Saturdays 9:00–12:00 noon in LRC 205. Be sure to bring a picture ID and a calculator
whenever you are taking a test.
Test #2 Saturday, Feburary 19,
Test #3 Saturday, March 19,
Test #4 Saturday, April 9,
Test #5 Saturday, May 7.
Final Exam Saturday, May 14, 2010 8:00–12:00 noon LRC-205
There will be absolutely no make-up exams. Students who miss a test will obtain a score
of zero for that test.
Procedure for Alternate Exam Day
If you are unable to take your exam on one of the schedule testing days, you may arrange
an alternative day/time in the week prior to the scheduled exam date by making an
appointment with the Testing Center.
To do this, you must call for an appointment at the Testing Center in L-106C at
916-691-7528. You must call for your appointment at least 24 hours in advance of the day and time
you want to come in (two-day notice is recommended). There are both day and evening
appointments available. E-mail me the date and time that you will be taking the exam, so
that I can have the test there waiting for you.
If no appointments are available that match your schedule, e-mail me for special
arrangements ONLY in advance of the scheduled exam date. NO LATE EXAMS.
